Ginkgo in Japan

"November is yellow
Ginkgo is the sun
gives its heat"

"Back from work, in the evening of November 30, Soeda was found in the driveway with the faces of his wife and daughter.
- Have you noticed that half of the ginkgo are completely naked he asked. "
Yasunari Kawabata
From the window...

I hope you like, Yoko...

  1. Oh, how sweet of you! Thank you for taking time to let me see this, karumina. I love this illustration, and your poem, too! You read Kawabata’s novel which I haven’t read.

This is my favorite tanka poem by Akiko Yosano.

    The leaves
    on a ginkgo tree
    are falling and falling
    with golden birds’ fluttery shapes
    on a sunset hill

Does the scene unfold before your eyes?

  2. Konnichiwa Yoko, domo arigato...

Is beautiful! I don´t know the writer Akiko Yosano ... has a great soul. I'm curious to know more about her and her work ...

    Have a great week, Yoko!

  3. Oh, but this is perfect. The different shades of yellow on different trees (and sometimes on the same tree) ... you got that exactly right!

I also love the Kawabata quote and the tanka that Yoko-san shared with us! Happiness. :)

    1. Thank you very much for your words...
      you are so kind!
